Tax By Region

I have read all messages in the forums but I have another tax question: I need to add 7% tax to everything but I also need to tax by region for additional provincial taxes. This is fine except that some of my items can only be taxed 7% and I cannot figure out how to subtract or reset the tax by region to 7% for these items. I will appreciate any suggestions.

I ran into the same problem with childrens' clothes...look in the modifications forum, search for two tax modification

This added GST and PST if required.

There is also a no PST mod that requires a n prefix to the item order number...I aslo added a part that would also exempt GST with a "d" prefix (That "d" was for donations).

axiom82 came up with a better "taxible item" mod...you will find everything under "modifications"

Thank you for your response Randy. I read through this modification and it replaces the 'n' to exclude tax if it is a two tax system. I have Tax by Region enabled so this didn't work for me. Any further suggestions will be apprecited.

With Axiom's kind assistance, my version of NOP cart now distinguishes between taxable and non-taxable items. The Tax by Region also works. One last modification is required, however, and that is to add 15% tax for only one of the Tax by Region regardless of taxable and non-taxable. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

When you say:

are you refering to HST?

If you wish to ignore the Taxable/non-taxable items and charge 15% to everything, calculate an HSTax = (fTotal * 0.15 ) and have a 3rd radio button in the PST tax field.

It will show up wierd in manageCart, but OK in the Checkout table.

You could add an HST row showing GST=0, HST= HSTax.

I was going to say just to add an 8% PST to the radio button, but under HST there are no non-taxable items...

The US of A have adopted a "Streamlined" Tax act, under which you will collect the taxes payable at the destination State. They must have taken their cue from the Atlantic Provinces whith HST. We are working on a mod for that which will work for HST as well...

I found a solution to my 3 tax problem: before manage cart I have a page for the user to choose their region and it redirects them to managecart()/checkout() OR managecart2()/checkout2() I created in the nopcart.js. I also have managecart3()/checkout3() to accept donations with no shipping, tax, ect. Thank you to everyone for all of your helpfull ideas (esp. Randy). Now it's on to online ordering...
